I created a full character set of Star Trek: Voyager Funko-style vinyl figures, focusing on translating each crew member into the Funko format. From uniforms to accessories, I leaned into the little visual cues that make each character instantly recognisable.*
I also ended up brushing against a bit of fandom history: the Captain Janeway phaser controversy. When Funko released their Janeway with a rifle instead of her now-legendary coffee mug, fans were not shy about debating it. While working on my own version, I explored alternate poses and accessories, making sure the design felt true to the character while still fitting the bold, stylised silhouette of the range.
* I added a sculpted mouth to Neelix because without it looked, as it’s known in the industry, “Creepy AF”.
